Introduction to Drawing (6th-9th Grade)
This is a one hour weekly course. No experience is necessary but must have a desire to draw and embrace the process. These Semi-private classes consist of between 3-6 students. In these sessions you will learn the basics and fundamentals. We use an “Old school” approach to our teaching when it comes to drawing. Students will learn with pencils and paper. We will study the human anatomy. Each class we progress through the steps needed to understand the shapes, structure and movements of the human form. Focus is added to proportions, dimensions, spacial relationships and perspective. We always begin with sketching to loosen up and then move on to structured exercises that reflect the area of study we will be focusing on that day. Along with the basics, students will learn tips and tricks for maximizing their skills. Students will follow a step-by-step process starting with the full figure, then working backwards to delve deeper into each of the human groups (Head, legs, hands, feet etc.). In todays world of tech with easy filters and art gimmicks, we feel first and foremost students should learn with a hands on approach to “real” drawing. Unlike our expressive arts classes, this course is very structured. With that being said, we still follow our policy for each student learning at their own skill level. Human anatomy is difficult and challenging to recreate. At i2Evolve we work as a team to master it. Private classes (One-on-One) are available if requested.
